About the position

The IBM X-Force Incident Response team is seeking a North America-based professional to lead a team of Incident Response Consultants and drive business development, service delivery, and market growth in the North America region. This role is fully remote and requires a passionate leader in incident response and cybersecurity, with a proven track record of success in managing decentralized teams of security service professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing Incident Response (IR) services across North America, focusing on both Reactive Services (Emergency Incident Response) and Proactive Services. The role involves close collaboration with a globally aligned team to deliver high-quality services to clients. In this position, you will leverage your expert knowledge of industry trends, current attack techniques, and cyber threat intelligence to address security threats faced by clients. You will need to possess the technical expertise to provide insights into next-generation incident management techniques and the communication skills to articulate complex situations effectively. Hands-on experience with IR operations and proactive security operations is essential, as is experience leading high-profile IR scenarios and managing teams in a consulting environment. You will report directly to the Global Leader for IBM X-Force IR and may be required to travel up to 25%, including international travel. As a key member of the X-Force Incident Response practice's global leadership team, you will play a strategic role in practice growth and improvement. You will be responsible for achieving business targets for the North America region, contributing to offering development, and building productive relationships with leaders across IBM. Additionally, you will help establish methodologies and skill models for core IR domains and lead a team of security practitioners in these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of Incident Response services across North America.
  • Manage a team of Incident Response Consultants and provide business development support.
  • Collaborate with global teams to organize project approaches and delivery for clients.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships in key accounts to enhance the Cyber Security Services portfolio.
  • Contribute to the development of practice methodologies and skill models for Incident Response.
  • Achieve assigned business targets for the North America region, including signings, revenue, and margin.
  • Participate in project delivery and help resolve project issues as they arise.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in conducting incident response investigations and developing proactive security operations solutions.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with commercial security consulting teams to develop bespoke engagements.
  • At least 2 years leading an incident response consultancy practice.
  • At least 10 years of enterprise security operational experience.
  • 5 years of experience leading complex incident response investigations and supporting clients' executive and/or board members.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 5 years of experience working with commercial security consulting teams to develop bespoke engagements.
  • At least 5 years leading an incident response consultancy practice.
  • Experience managing a team of advanced incident responders.
