About the position

Community Health Systems is one of the nation's leading healthcare providers, dedicated to developing and operating healthcare delivery systems across 40 distinct markets in 15 states. The Regional Marketing Director (RMD) plays a crucial role in this mission by providing leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies for multiple hospitals and their affiliated medical groups. This position is corporate in nature but may be based in a specific market, allowing for a blend of corporate strategy and local execution. The RMD is responsible for overseeing marketing planning, advertising, community relations, internal communications, and other promotional activities for the hospitals and affiliated medical groups. This role requires collaboration with hospital marketing directors, CEOs, the CHS marketing team, and approved vendors to execute effective digital-first, multi-channel campaigns. The RMD will also oversee enterprise-wide marketing initiatives for assigned service lines, ensuring that all marketing efforts align with corporate guidelines and market knowledge. As part of a dynamic and results-oriented corporate marketing team, the RMD will leverage resources and expertise across a wide range of traditional, digital, and interactive marketing functions. The position demands a strong focus on measuring and reporting the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, ensuring that all projects progress in a timely manner while adhering to established timelines. The RMD will also guide market research programs and support community relations efforts to enhance the hospital's growth initiatives and reputation management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Corporate Marketing VPs, Regional Presidents, hospital executives, and marketing leaders to establish and execute strategic marketing plans.
  • Oversees assigned service line marketing initiatives, vendor management, strategic and creative development, execution, and results reporting.
  • Applies knowledge and experience to ensure strong, actionable advertising and promotions.
  • Influences operations and service line colleagues to ensure optimal marketability and seamless patient pathways.
  • Serves as the marketing expert for the facilities in the Region, effectively communicating marketing strategy to stakeholders.
  • Measures and tracks ROI and KPIs related to marketing projects.
  • Manages established timelines to ensure projects progress in a timely manner.
  • Shares and leverages marketing content across all owned, paid, and earned media.
  • Stays abreast of overall hospital market share, service line market share, market dynamics, and other data to identify new growth strategies.
  • Guides market research programs, when appropriate and approved.
  • Supports efforts of Community Connections to foster valuable community relations and partnerships on behalf of the hospital.
  • Oversees marketing staff's tactics for website content management, social media engagement, online reputation management, internal and external communications, and community outreach.
  • Ensures compliance with all marketing-related guidelines and corporate policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of direct marketing experience in healthcare.
  • Management experience is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills to support multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and act on insights that drive business results.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate leaders and hospital executives.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory.
