About the position

The Cardiovascular & Metabolism Regional Medical Scientific Director is a credentialed expert responsible for engaging in scientific exchanges with Scientific Leaders (SLs) and providing balanced, factual information about therapeutic areas and company products. This role involves liaising between the scientific community and the company to enhance understanding of scientific foundations and goals for clinical trials and research studies. The position requires significant travel within Northern California and Nevada, with a focus on building professional relationships and supporting research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop professional relationships with national and regional Scientific Leaders (SLs) to ensure access to company-approved medical and scientific information.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintain a reliable presence with SLs.
  • Address scientific questions and direct inquiries to appropriate company resources.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the scientific and clinical environment in the therapeutic area.
  • Initiate discussions with SLs and potential investigators regarding research strategies and scientific merit.
  • Identify barriers to patient enrollment and retention for clinical studies.
  • Recommend study sites and identify potential investigators for clinical development programs.
  • Engage in scientific congresses and facilitate data exchange at medical meetings.
  • Gather feedback and data to understand the medical or scientific needs of SLs and patients.

Requirements

  • PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience in fields such as Heart Failure, Atherosclerosis, Lipidology, Thrombosis, or Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis.
  • Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
  • Strong focus on scientific excellence and education.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
  • Thorough understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other relevant ethical guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a changing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Field-based medical experience in Cardiovascular & Metabolism Research.
  • Demonstrated record of scientific/medical publication.
