About the position

The Area Operations Manager will lead and optimize operations across multiple locations in the building materials industry, focusing on enhancing efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team performance. This role involves overseeing branch operations, implementing strategies for operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, monitor, and maintain key performance metrics, including order fill rates, on-time delivery, equipment utilization, and inventory accuracy.
  • Conduct regular audits, identify areas for improvement, and implement tactical solutions to drive operational excellence.
  • Facilitate operations meetings with location managers, provide clear direction, and resolve operational challenges effectively.
  • Assist in budget preparation and ensure compliance with departmental budgets, labor costs, and expenses.
  • Improve warehouse and delivery processes to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor product flow, optimize space and labor utilization, and oversee inventory levels and cycle counts.
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction, partnering with sales management for seamless communication and training.
  • Enforce company policies and safety standards, maintaining compliance across all departments.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in operational management within a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Proven ability to supervise dozens of associates and inspire a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Strong skills in process improvement, budgeting, and performance tracking to deliver measurable results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, WMS, and other relevant software systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general operations management, financial principles, and safety standards.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
