About the position
The Regional Operations Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting with the maintenance, safety, compliance, and improvement activities of power plants within a designated region. This position involves coordinating and implementing special project initiatives while ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members to enhance operational efficiency and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, safety/compliance, and physical plant improvement activities at all facilities within the assigned region.
- Work with the Operations and Maintenance Manager to schedule, plan, implement, and perform quality control of top-end overhauls of engine-generators.
- Develop and draft standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best management practices (BMPs).
- Act as a liaison with Operations Technicians to facilitate continuous education and certification consistent with SOPs and BMPs.
- Train new and existing Operations Technicians on SOPs and BMPs.
- Travel to out-of-state locations as needed and respond quickly to assigned plants.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two-year post high school graduation technical degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering technologies or comparable experience.
- Strong knowledge of landfill gas-fueled engine-generator operations, mechanical and electrical systems, and maintenance/troubleshooting.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write routine reports and SOP drafts.
- Good math skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret graphs; and calculate figures such as proportions and volumes.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and Internet skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to reprioritize activities based on unplanned operations support.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with preventive maintenance and inventory tracking computer software.
- Good working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of engines.
