About the position

The Regional Payroll Manager at J.R. Simplot Company is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing North American Payroll Operations within a co-sourced payroll model. This position is integral to ensuring that payroll processes are executed accurately and in compliance with all relevant labor and tax laws. The Regional Payroll Manager will partner closely with employees and internal stakeholders, managing the service delivery model and resolving any issues that arise. This role also involves the development of new processes to enhance payroll efficiency and improve the overall employee experience. In addition to managing payroll operations, the Regional Payroll Manager will assist with regional and global payroll projects, ensuring that payroll is processed in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The role requires a strong focus on continuous improvement, particularly in the integration of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. The manager will be responsible for maintaining productive partnerships with various departments, including HR, Tax, Total Rewards, Legal, and Finance, to ensure effective communication and adherence to company policies and procedures related to payroll. The position also entails implementing and reviewing payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, which include salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. A key aspect of this role is the responsibility for hiring, mentoring, and training payroll staff, conducting regular performance reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the payroll team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Payroll Operations for North America, ensuring timely and accurate payroll payment and compliance.
  • Support regional and global payroll projects to enhance payroll service delivery and improve employee experience.
  • Effectively manage payroll vendors by adhering to contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Improve payroll processes efficiency and controls by collaborating with internal and external partners.
  • Maintain productive partnerships with members of the Global Payroll team, HR, Tax, Total Rewards, Legal, and Finance.
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions.
  • Hire, mentor, and train payroll staff, conducting ongoing performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of related experience and/or training in payroll operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll and timekeeping software.
