About the position

The Regional Payroll Manager (US/CA) is responsible for overseeing payroll processing for employees in the United States and Canada, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payments. This role involves collaboration with various departments, process improvement, and leveraging technology to enhance payroll operations while maintaining compliance with local laws.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the regional payroll team, setting goals and managing performance.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all Copeland employees in the United States and Canada.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies relating to payroll.
  • Administer and maintain payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and implementing system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Provide leadership and support of global work plans to ensure compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information.
  • Take an active role in internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in payroll management in processing in the United States and Canada with 5 or more years leading a team.
  • Experience with a broad range of US states and Canada supporting full cycle payroll of 3,000+ employees.
  • In-depth knowledge of global payroll processes, labor laws, taxation, and statutory compliance.
  • Proven experience leading teams to achieve results.
  • Proficiency in payroll and time tracking systems, such as Workday, ADP GlobalView and Celergo, UKG Kronos, with experience implementing and managing payroll systems.
  • English fluency in verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages with all levels in the organization, including breaking down complex topics for target audiences.
  • Ability to understand business priorities and align technology opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Demonstrate an elevated level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
