About the position

The Regional People Officer (RPO) for the Central Africa Region (CARO) at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is a key member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for leading the strategic implementation of HR functions across the region. The RPO aims to ensure that Country Programs have the necessary talent to deliver high-quality programs while fostering a consistent and equitable employee experience. This role involves close collaboration with HR Managers and the Deputy Regional Director for Operations to provide effective HR services and support, aligning with Global HR Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of strategic HR functions in the Central Africa Region.
  • Collaborate with HR Managers in Country Programs to ensure effective delivery of HR services.
  • Support the roll-out and adoption of global HR initiatives and practices.
  • Provide hands-on support for the professional development of HR staff in the region.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to leaders on staffing resources and performance.
  • Ensure efficiency and consistency of business processes while managing institutional risk.

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience in HR management or related field.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and global HR standards.
  • Experience in providing strategic HR support in a humanitarian or development context.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
