About the position

The Regional Purchaser for the Americas at Amadeus plays a crucial role in the strategic sourcing and procurement activities that support the company's vendor-related operations. This position is integral to ensuring that Amadeus maintains strong relationships with its suppliers while optimizing costs and adhering to service level agreements. The role involves executing and supporting day-to-day sourcing events, which include identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing the administration of these contracts. The Regional Purchaser will also be responsible for delivering and proposing sourcing initiatives that contribute to the company's annual savings targets, while ensuring compliance with Amadeus's Global Purchasing Policy. In this role, the Regional Purchaser will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including Business Units, Technical Owners, and Budget Owners, to gather local requirements for strategic sourcing initiatives. They will work to reduce unplanned strategic and spot buy events and propose new areas for strategic management to the category manager. The position requires conducting purchasing events for goods and services requisitions, identifying potential vendors, obtaining quotes, and selecting vendors that provide the best total cost of ownership for Amadeus stakeholders. Additionally, the Regional Purchaser will coordinate local contract implementation tasks and support the creation of local and regional contracts that align with global agreements. The role also involves monitoring contract compliance and proposing improvement opportunities, acting as the primary contact for the Procurement function at a local level, and addressing escalated issues from local stakeholders. Frequent interactions with vendors and partners, including their commercial leadership and legal teams, are also a key aspect of this position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing and procurement, particularly within a global company, and will possess excellent communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and support day-to-day sourcing events including supplier identification, negotiation, selection, and contract administration.
  • Deliver and propose sourcing initiatives and results to contribute to annual saving targets.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing Content owners for regional content in internal communication tools.
  • Monitor Americas Regional purchasing activity to ensure compliance with Amadeus Global Purchasing Policy.
  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives by identifying stakeholders and gathering local requirements.
  • Conduct purchasing events and related processes for goods and services requisitions.
  • Identify potential vendors, obtain quotes, conduct negotiations, and select vendors based on total cost of ownership.
  • Provide content owners with input for the creation of content for internal communication tools.
  • Coordinate local contract implementation tasks with Category Buyers and users.
  • Support the creation of local/regional contracts aligned with global agreements.
  • Monitor contract compliance and propose improvement opportunities.
  • Act as the entry point of contact for the Procurement function at a local level.
  • Address escalated issues/questions from local stakeholders within agreed timeframes.
  • Manage and facilitate constructive resolution of issues and disputes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, Business Administration, Law, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of previous work experience in Sourcing/Procurement in a global company.
  • Previous experience in IT and/or Engineering with an understanding of the Purchasing practice.
  • Proven delivery focus and solid communication skills.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Resilient with a good sense to lead activities towards progress.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (V-lookup, Pivot tables, and other advanced functions).
  • Ability to travel frequently within the US and Latin America, and occasionally to Europe (approximately 25%).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; Spanish speaking is a plus.
