About the position

The Regional Recruiter and Admissions Specialist at Washburn University is responsible for developing and executing recruitment strategies for undergraduate populations in a designated territory outside of Topeka, Kansas. This role involves building relationships with high school counselors, students, and community members to achieve recruitment goals, while also providing guidance throughout the admissions process. The position requires extensive travel within the assigned territory and participation in various recruitment events.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and execute the Washburn recruitment strategy for assigned undergraduate populations.
  • Identify and recruit prospective students by building rapport with high school, college, and community personnel.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with high school counselors, principals, and alumni in the assigned territory.
  • Provide support and guidance to prospects and applicants throughout the admissions process, including FAFSA completion and New Student Orientation registration.
  • Plan and implement recruiting events and coordinate with other Admissions staff as needed.
  • Develop and carry out a recruitment travel schedule for college fairs and school visits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students and their families through personalized outreach efforts.
  • Interpret and analyze data to identify trends in student recruitment and retention programs.
  • Assist in executing on-campus recruitment events and personalized campus visits.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to prospective students, families, and school counselors.
  • Participate in unit and department meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Travel to the main campus for recruiting events or department meetings as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of recruiting activities and produce monthly activity and expense reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or degree completion by the end of the semester of hire).
  • Experience in collegiate admissions, recruitment, sales, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • Commitment to building effective professional relationships with diverse populations.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
