About the position

As the Regional Sales Director at PacificSource, you will play a pivotal role in representing the company in the marketplace and the broader business community. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the training, support, and performance of PacificSource Sales Representatives and Account Managers. You will be tasked with the solicitation, sales, and retention of clients to achieve the growth and financial performance goals of PacificSource Health Plans. Building positive relationships with brokers in your assigned region is essential, as is ensuring that the distribution channel is well-educated about the company's products and services. You will also provide direct sales and service to employers when necessary. In this role, you will coordinate with the Sales and Marketing Department to assess customer needs within your sales territory. You will supervise the training and assignments of Sales Executives and Account Managers, conducting regular staff meetings to keep everyone informed about sales goals, promotions, advertising, new products, and marketing policies. Timely turnaround on quotes and proposals will be a priority, as will overseeing the development and execution of the Target Account Strategy. You will serve as an escalation point for unresolved client complaints and concerns, ensuring that positive relationships with consultants and brokers are established and maintained. Your responsibilities will also include organizing and leading Producer or Broker Advisory Council meetings, working closely with senior executives to achieve growth and profitability goals, facilitating negotiations for group renewals, and monitoring sales goals according to established protocols. You will oversee communication and sales methodology in deploying the community health plan model in designated geographic territories and maintain relationships with vendors and business partners. Additionally, you will be responsible for hiring, staff development, coaching, performance reviews, corrective actions, and terminations of employees. You will develop annual department budgets, monitor spending, and take corrective action as needed. Your role will require you to coordinate business activities by maintaining collaborative partnerships with key departments and to work on process improvement initiatives using lean methodologies. You will actively participate in Manager/Supervisor meetings and various strategic committees to disseminate information and represent the company's philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise training and assignments of Sales Executives and Account Managers and regional office personnel.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings to ensure current knowledge of sales goals, promotions, advertising, new products, and marketing policies.
  • Ensure timely turnaround on quotes and proposals.
  • Oversee development, execution, and progress toward Target Account Strategy.
  • Serve as an escalation point to investigate unresolved client complaints/concerns.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with consultants/brokers to promote PacificSource Health Plans products and services.
  • Organize and lead the Producer or Broker Advisory Council meetings.
  • Work directly with Senior Vice President of Sales and other senior executives to achieve growth and profitability goals.
  • Facilitate negotiations for group renewals.
  • Set, monitor, and report Sales Goals according to standard protocols established.
  • Oversee communication and sales methodology in deploying community health plan model in designated geographic territories.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and business partners providing products and services sold by PacificSource Health Plans.
  • Review complete agent licensing assignments and forward for processing.
  • Complete new business commission information and forward for processing.
  • Analyze underwriting income by market segment.
  • Represent PacificSource at community events and functions.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and communication of department programs.
  • Hire, develop, coach, and conduct performance reviews for employees.
  • Develop annual department budgets and monitor spending versus planned budget throughout the year.
  • Coordinate business activities by maintaining collaborative partnerships with key departments.
  • Work on process improvement initiatives using lean methodologies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of health insurance experience required.
  • Two (2) years of health insurance sales experience preferred.
  • Current Department of Insurance Life and Health License or eligible to obtain one.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic math skills required, including percentages, ratios, graphing, and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all types of individuals.
  • Ability to define and prioritize problems and manage workload without direct supervision.
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding of PacificSource products and the competitive environment.
  • A working knowledge of underwriting and risk factors.
  • Ability to work reliably and professionally with both inside and outside the organization.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed in daily work.
  • Thorough understanding of health insurance issues, both national and state, and the factors that affect the insurance market.
  • Excellent public relations skills and public speaking ability.
  • Ability to effectively explain plans and administration to groups of varying educational backgrounds.
