About the position

The Regional Sales Manager for the Western Region at Trojan Technologies is responsible for driving growth and expansion of direct sales and profit margins within assigned accounts and territories. This role involves managing third-party representatives, establishing professional relationships with key customer personnel, and meeting sales targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars. The position is remote and part of a flexible, family-friendly organization dedicated to sustainability in the water industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage growth and expansion of direct sales and profit margins within assigned accounts and territory.
  • Directly manage third-party representatives in the assigned region and ensure their performance.
  • Establish professional relationships with key personnel in customer accounts.
  • Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars.
  • Collaborate with applications engineers for system sizing, pricing, and commissions for municipal systems.
  • Handle all Purchase Orders, sales targets, and tenders, including negotiation of agreement/contract terms.
  • Set clear and ambitious annual sales targets to grow orders, bookings, and revenue for the Municipal capital business.
  • Forecast quarterly, annual, and long-term territory, PO, and Bid volumes.
  • Develop a comprehensive territory execution plan in collaboration with channel management and sales leadership.
  • Identify trends or issues affecting the marketplace and take corrective action to achieve sales goals.
  • Identify potential sales opportunities and provide information for business case development.
  • Maintain effective operational relationships with channel partners, agents, and engineers in the territory.
  • Account for expenses, including travel and expense budgets for assigned sellers.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education plus sales management experience with a history of meeting or exceeding sales plans.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience selling premium-priced products in the municipal capital market.
  • Demonstrated skill in managing a territory utilizing a CRM, including planning, forecasting, and implementing sales plans.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant Technical and/or Commercial experience.
  • Capability to travel within the territory for significant portions of each fiscal year (could exceed 60%).

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong Engineering Background.
  • Experience with UV or disinfection technology.
  • Track record of managing third-party representative networks.
  • Experience influencing specifications at regional and national engineering firms.
