About the position

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for forecasting sales for the upcoming year, managing sales representatives and distributors, and promoting all products, programs, and policies. This role involves significant fieldwork, with approximately 50% of the time spent in various states including Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Kansas. The RSM will also engage in strategic discussions to penetrate new and existing markets, monitor distributor inventory, and coordinate sales leads.

Responsibilities

  • Independently schedule time in the field, averaging around 50% of their time in locations such as Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Kansas.
  • Establish annual sales forecasts for each representative and distributor.
  • Promote seminars with key customers and encourage plant tours in Houston for key customers with upcoming projects.
  • Discuss strategies to penetrate new and existing markets with representatives and distributor owners.
  • Monitor distributor's inventory during visits to ensure adequacy for market supply.
  • Act as a clearing house for all sales leads received from other distributors, RSMs, and management.
  • Coordinate all leads and follow-up with appropriate parties.
  • Make on-the-spot pricing decisions within factory guidelines when required to close an order.
  • Notify Houston in writing of any pricing decisions made in the field.
  • Recommend representatives and distributors deal directly with the factory for lead times and custom products.
  • Involve in the revision of blanket quote pricing and project pricing based on firsthand knowledge of accounts.
  • Let the factory handle evaluations of field service problems unless application-related issues can be resolved in the field.
  • Follow-up on all significant outstanding quotes within the territory.
  • Coordinate plans of action with distributors and inside sales to help close orders.
  • Be knowledgeable and promote all products, programs, and policies.
  • Coordinate with distributor owners/managers to set up calls on selected accounts in advance.
  • Submit a list of follow-up items in CRM D365 after trips and provide a summary of top wins, losses, and monthly targets for closure to senior management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales management or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of sales forecasting and inventory management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make pricing decisions and negotiate effectively.
  • Familiarity with CRM software, preferably D365.
