About the position
The Regional Utility Coordinator plays a crucial role in the Right of Way Bureau of the Iowa Department of Transportation, focusing on the coordination of utility notification events and managing reimbursement agreements related to utility facilities impacted by highway projects. This position ensures that utility accommodations and relocations are seamlessly integrated into the project delivery process, contributing to the successful letting of highway projects. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including utility companies, district staff, and city representatives, to facilitate effective communication and timely reimbursement payments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate utility notification events for highway projects.
- Create and manage reimbursement agreements for impacted utility facilities.
- Collaborate with district staff to identify utility owners and advise them on proposed highway construction projects.
- Negotiate reimbursement agreements and ensure timely payments for utility relocations.
- Facilitate interaction between district utility personnel and software systems such as Masterworks and Electronic Permitting System.
- Provide utility relocation estimates to develop the relocation budget for the five-year highway construction program.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of full-time experience in real estate appraisal, property acquisition, real estate sales or management, or relocation assistance.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in field-commissioned sales work or right of way engineering.
- Completion of relevant courses from recognized real estate organizations.
