About the position

The Registered Dental Assistant at Hunter Oral Surgery & Implant plays a crucial role in providing support to dentists and dental hygienists during procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a sterile environment. This full-time position involves direct patient interaction, assisting with dental treatments, and managing administrative tasks related to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and explain dental care treatment plans to ensure comfort during appointments.
• Take and document vital signs and medical history for patient records.
• Take x-rays of patients' mouths and apply topical anesthetic for dental procedures if necessary.
• Prepare and layout sterilized equipment, dental instruments, anesthetics, and dental supplies in treatment rooms.
• Assist dentists and dental hygienists during procedures by handing off instruments and providing suction.
• Adhere to infection control policies and safety regulations by disinfecting and sterilizing equipment after use.
• Schedule appointments for patient follow-up care and answer questions about dental hygiene.
• Provide postoperative instructions and methods for infection control of patients' teeth and gums.

Requirements

• An Associate's Degree or certification from an accredited college or technical school training program is required.
• State licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Current BLS/CPR certification is required.
• Previous dental assisting experience as a registered dental assistant or certified dental assistant is needed.
• Experience with dental software and updating patient histories is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills, customer service, organization, and excellent communication skills are essential.
