About The Position

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is a multi-clinic network that provides a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty, and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we serve nearly 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County, receiving national recognition from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for our commitment to health and wellness. Our mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all. The Registered Dental Hygienist plays a crucial role in supporting MCC's Dental Clinics by performing a variety of essential duties. This position involves working closely with dentists to ensure the delivery of high-quality customer service to our patients. The Registered Dental Hygienist will be responsible for conducting patient screening procedures, which include assessing oral health conditions, reviewing health histories, performing oral cancer screenings, conducting head and neck inspections, dental charting, and taking vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse. Additionally, the hygienist will take digital x-rays, remove calculus and plaque from teeth surfaces, and apply preventive materials like sealants and fluorides. Education and patient counseling are also key components of this role. The Registered Dental Hygienist will educate patients on effective oral hygiene strategies, including tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling, while also discussing the impact of nutrition on oral health. The hygienist will make impressions of patients' teeth for study casts and will be involved in documentation and office management activities. Collaboration with the dental team is essential, as the hygienist may also assist with duties typically performed by a dental assistant, such as four-handed dentistry, depending on the operational needs of the practice. Flexibility is a must, as the role may require adapting to various tasks as assigned.
