About the position

The position involves providing clinical nutrition care and services to patients in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. The role includes assessing patients' nutritional risks, developing individualized care plans, counseling patients and their families, and coordinating with food service staff to ensure quality nutrition services. The dietitian will also participate in quality assurance audits and contribute to the development of nutrition programs and standards within the medical center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nutritional care that is customer-focused and cost-effective while maintaining high-quality service standards.
  • Conduct nutritional screening and assessment of patients for appropriate nutrition intervention.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on various patient factors including age, sex, diagnosis, and cultural background.
  • Conduct audits and menu reviews to ensure compliance with nutritional requirements and physician orders.
  • Coordinate activities with the food service department to ensure quality and accuracy of food served to patients.
  • Monitor the accuracy of trays related to medical nutrition therapy (MNT) or diet orders according to the diet manual.
  • Document patient care in medical records as appropriate.
  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of high-quality, cost-effective food and clinical nutrition programs.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of nutrition care and service standards.
  • Participate in quality, service, and performance improvement processes related to clinical nutrition services.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and participate in committees and meetings to report information.
  • Provide feedback on menu modifications and revisions to the Division Food and Clinical Nutrition Services staff.
  • Assist in the budget process and may provide in-service training to staff.

Requirements

  • Six months of experience in clinical nutrition as a registered dietitian.
  • If working in End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), at least one year of experience in clinical nutrition as a registered dietitian is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food and/or Nutritional Science.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Commission on Dietetic Registration.
