About the position

As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Shawnee Gardens Healthcare & Rehab Center, you will play a crucial role in overseeing staff assignments and ensuring high-quality resident care. This position involves adhering to established policies and procedures while collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) and other healthcare professionals. You will be responsible for medication administration, resident assessments, and maintaining accurate medical records, all while providing leadership and support to nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Complete all required RN record-keeping forms and charts during resident admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the physician.
• Facilitate the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents, including transportation arrangements.
• Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feeding, suction, wound care, and specimen collection.
• Collaborate with facility consultants and implement recommended changes under the guidance of the DON.
• Investigate and address complaints and grievances, providing reports to the DON.
• Conduct daily checks on residents to ensure prescribed treatments are administered correctly and assess their well-being.
• Exchange nursing reports at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Keep the DON informed about the status of residents and staff.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or recognized RN program with current licensure in Kansas.
• Strong leadership abilities and willingness to collaborate with personnel.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
