About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular OR at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is responsible for providing competent, safe, and compassionate care to patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures. Requirements

  • Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York.
  • BLS certification required through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, assesses, and documents patient healthcare data.
  • Uses innovative strategies to direct the interdisciplinary team and patient/family to identify a realistic and measurable plan of care.
  • Documents assessment and reassessment in medical records.
  • Leads interventions in the coordination of patient care in a safe, timely, and appropriate manner.
  • Educates the patient/family regarding health status and established plan of care.
  • Evaluates the patient's progress towards expected outcomes and modifies interventions as necessary.
  • Coordinates and directs unit activities to create a healing environment.
  • Leads unit projects to improve throughput efficiencies and metrics.
  • Complies with professional standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies.
  • Serves as a support, resource, and preceptor for nursing staff and students.
  • Engages in self-assessment and peer review to promote professional development.
  • Volunteers to lead unit practice councils and improvement efforts.
