About the position

The Registered Nurse - Circulator is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care through critical thinking and independent judgment. This role involves all phases of the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse will supervise the nursing patient care team and ensure effective patient care delivery, particularly in the Birth Center operating room during cesarean section cases.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients and develop/update care plans in collaboration with them.
  • Provide and direct nursing care, evaluating outcomes effectively.
  • Circulate cesarean section cases within the Birth Center operating room.
  • Balance shift staffing according to patient census.
  • Utilize evidence-based tools and established policies to guide nursing practice.
  • Educate patients and family members, documenting the education provided.
  • Complete timely documentation of patient care, conditions, and responses to treatment.
  • Report occurrences according to Oaklawn's procedures.
  • Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities and staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification.
  • NRP certification prior to completion of orientation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar nursing role or environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Knowledge of infection prevention standards.
