The Registered Nurse at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital plays a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care within the inpatient rehabilitation unit. This position is part-time, operating on a day shift from 7 AM to 7 PM, and reports directly to the Program Manager of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. The nurse is responsible for utilizing their nursing skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The role emphasizes quality communication, teamwork, and professionalism, ensuring that patient care is delivered in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations. In this position, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the care of the assigned patient population, completing mandatory competencies and participating in professional development activities. The nurse will routinely solicit and validate patient and family satisfaction, engage in peer reviews, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives. A strong emphasis is placed on safety practices, effective communication, and the ability to recognize and act upon opportunities for improvement. Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Complete yearly mandatory competencies and unit-specific competencies as identified by the Director/Designee.
  • Solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction and participate in peer review for the unit.
  • Ensure understanding and adherence to safety practices expected by the organization.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, families, and team members.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Engage in self-development by soliciting feedback and pursuing continuing education opportunities.
  • Embrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in all interactions and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Nursing (RN diploma, ASN, or ADN).
  • Current RN License in Virginia or eligibility to practice pending licensure.
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) from an AHA approved provider.
  • Reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Relevant Specialty Certification.
  • Agreement to enroll in a BSN program within two years of employment and complete it within five years.
