About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients. This position involves delivering direct patient care while collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The RN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. The RN is expected to demonstrate leadership and management skills, showing a commitment to professional accountability and growth. This role is designed for those who aspire to advance from novice to expert, becoming evidence-based scholars to provide optimal patient care and advocate for their patients. The RN serves as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health, ensuring compliance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and all regulatory standards. In this position, the RN will assure patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures and utilizing patient safety resources. They will implement a plan of care tailored to the identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. The RN will prioritize nursing interventions based on patient needs and available resources, actively participating in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding to gather necessary information for patient care. Additionally, the RN will provide patient education and discharge planning to promote optimal patient outcomes. This role is essential in fostering a supportive and healing environment for patients and their families, ensuring that care is holistic and addresses the whole person.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
