About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients. This position involves delivering direct patient care while collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The RN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. The RN is expected to demonstrate leadership and management skills, showing a commitment to professional accountability and growth. This role is designed for those who aspire to advance from novice to expert, becoming evidence-based scholars to provide optimal patient care and advocate for their patients. The RN serves as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health, ensuring compliance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and all regulatory standards. In this part-time position, the RN will work day shifts at the Shawnee Mission location, contributing to a community that values whole-person care. The RN will assure patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures, implementing care plans based on identified needs, and actively participating in various team activities such as bedside shift reports and multidisciplinary rounds. The RN will also engage in patient teaching and discharge planning to promote optimal outcomes, ensuring that each patient is treated as a whole person who is physically, emotionally, and spiritually fit.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients within the RN's scope of responsibility.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills while committing to professional accountability and growth.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding to gather necessary information for patient care.
  • Implement a plan of care according to identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Provide patient teaching and discharge planning to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
