The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. This role emphasizes quality communication, teamwork, and professionalism. The nurse will direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality and safety initiatives, and the activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards. As a Registered Nurse I (RNI), the individual will be responsible for the care of the assigned patient population. The RN I is required to complete yearly mandatory competencies, as well as any unit-specific competencies identified by the Director or Designee that relate to the patient population of their unit. Additionally, the RN I must fulfill the Professional Practice Ladder requirements, which include assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in Performance Improvement (PI) activities, and engaging in department initiatives. Communication and sharing of information with the Director/Designee and co-workers from unit or hospital committees are essential. The RN I is also expected to participate in educational opportunities such as Valley Health paid Education/Seminar/Conference, workshops, or Nursing Articles. The RN I routinely solicits and validates patient and family satisfaction, participates in peer review for the unit, and develops educational materials for staff, patients, and family members. This position requires a commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the standards of nursing practice.
