About the position

The Registered Nurse III (RN III) at Valley Health is a vital role within the Orthopaedics department, responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to the assigned patient population. This position requires the nurse to effectively utilize their skills in the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The RN III is expected to demonstrate quality communication, teamwork, and professionalism in all interactions. In addition to direct patient care, the RN III will direct, coordinate, and implement patient education, quality and safety initiatives, and oversee the activities of other health team personnel. Maintaining professional nursing standards is paramount, and the RN III must complete yearly mandatory competencies, as well as any unit-specific competencies identified by the Director or Designee. This role also involves fulfilling the requirements of the Professional Practice Ladder, which includes taking on responsibilities as Charge Nurse, participating in Performance Improvement (PI) activities, and engaging in department initiatives. The RN III is also responsible for communicating and sharing information with the Director/Designee and co-workers regarding unit or hospital committee activities. They are expected to solicit and validate patient and family satisfaction regularly, participate in peer reviews for the unit, and develop educational materials for staff, patients, and family members. The RN III must maintain a current portfolio and submit it to the Director/Designee annually by March 1st, along with validation of participation in a committee.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Completion of yearly mandatory competencies and unit-specific competencies.
  • Experience in a nursing role, preferably in orthopaedics or a related field.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and professionalism in nursing practice.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
