About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients. This position involves delivering direct patient care while collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The RN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. The RN is expected to demonstrate leadership and management skills, showing a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The role emphasizes the importance of advancing from novice to expert, becoming an evidence-based scholar to provide optimal patient care and advocate for patients' needs. In this role, the RN will be accountable for adhering to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and established policies and procedures. The RN will utilize accurate assessment skills tailored to the patient population, ensuring patient safety by following established protocols and utilizing safety resources. The RN will implement care plans based on the identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients, prioritizing nursing interventions according to patient needs and available resources. Active participation in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding is essential to gather necessary information for patient care and ensure smooth transitions between care team members.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
