About the position

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at St. Joseph's Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor and delivery. This role involves observation, assessment, intervention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of patients, as well as the administration of medications and treatments as ordered by physicians. The nurse will also supervise and teach nursing practices, develop nursing care plans, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assess patients during labor and delivery.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
• Develop and evaluate nursing care plans.
• Supervise and teach nursing practices and policies.
• Provide health teachings and rehabilitation to patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or progression towards it.
• Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

• Labor and Delivery experience.
• National Certification recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Bilingual or Multilingual skills.
