About the position

The Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) at White Plains Hospital is responsible for providing direct patient care to mothers and newborns during the labor and delivery process. This role involves collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure high-quality care, adhering to hospital policies, and demonstrating leadership and professional accountability. The position requires a commitment to patient dignity and respect, as well as the ability to respond to rapidly changing situations in a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful care for all patients, promoting mutual respect and informed consent.
• Utilize the nursing process to meet the age-specific needs of patients in all aspects of care.
• Administer blood and blood products according to policy.
• Collaborate and communicate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Integrate patient rights and nursing ethics into work practice.
• Adhere to infection control standards to reduce the risk of infections.
• Delegate activities to ancillary staff as per the State Nurse Practice Act.
• Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives and complete competency requirements.
• Assume Charge Nurse responsibility when required.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current New York RN license/registration.
• BSN required.
• One year of acute care nursing experience preferred for areas other than medical surgical or step-down.
• BLS certification (through American Heart Association) is required.
• ACLS certification (through American Heart Association) is required for all RNs, except for NICU and OR RNs.
• NRP certification is required for all RNs working in the Mother-Baby unit, Labor & Delivery, and NICU.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of current nursing, medical, and health trends and practices in patient care.
• Experience in Labor & Delivery nursing.
