About the position

The dermatology nurse plays a crucial role in ensuring patients receive comprehensive care for skin disorders, wound treatment, and skin injuries. This position involves supporting healthcare providers in various settings, including outpatient and inpatient facilities, while delivering outstanding patient support and education.

Responsibilities

• Verifying patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of visit.
• Entering medical history and visit information into EHR.
• Preparing patients for examination.
• Escorting patients to the exam room.
• Asking pertinent medical questions and documenting into EHR.
• Preparing patients for exams by providing them with drapes and other materials.
• Taking photographs.
• Assisting physicians during medical examinations and procedures.
• Entering relevant information into EHR.
• Scheduling medical procedures.
• Instructing patients on proper usage of medications.
• Phoning in prescriptions to various pharmacies.
• Changing the dressing on wounds and removing sutures.
• Collecting lab specimens.
• Sterilizing medical instruments.
• Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures.

Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of MI
• Prior experience in a medical office preferred
• Ability to learn related center tasks and assist management and physicians
• Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Familiarity with the ModMed EMA EMR is strongly preferred
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA law
