About the position

The Registered Nurse Manager for the Intensive Care Unit and Med Surg at Holy Rosary Hospital is responsible for overseeing the operations of a 5-bed ICU and an 18-bed Med Surg/Swing bed unit. This role involves leadership in patient care, staff management, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery. The Nurse Manager will be accountable for staffing, performance improvement, patient satisfaction, and maintaining regulatory compliance, while fostering a culture of safety and professional development among staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop staffing matrices that facilitate safe, quality patient care using practice standards and stewarding resources.
  • Evaluate staffing patterns and unit demands, matching competency and patient needs.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of labor laws and organizational policies related to human resources.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new associates.
  • Conduct associate evaluations, assist with goal setting, and initiate corrective action when necessary.
  • Facilitate associate education, ensure competency validation, and promote professional development.
  • Promote cultural competence and an environment that embraces diversity.
  • Identify key performance indicators, establish data collection methodology, evaluate data, and develop action plans based on findings.
  • Assess patient satisfaction and develop strategies to improve the patient experience.
  • Monitor and report patient and associate safety events, participate in root cause analysis, and manage incident reporting.
  • Maintain regulatory and survey readiness and promote workplace safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN license in state of practice or compact license with the ability to obtain RN license.
  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or business.
  • Leadership experience leading committees, councils, or professional organizations.
  • Formal leadership experience as a charge nurse or supervisor.
