About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients. This position involves delivering direct patient care while collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The RN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. This role requires a commitment to professional accountability and growth, as well as the ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills. The RN is expected to advance from novice to expert, becoming an evidence-based scholar to provide optimal patient care and advocate for patients' needs. In addition to direct patient care, the RN will participate in various activities such as bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding. These activities are essential for gathering necessary information to anticipate patient needs and ensure smooth transitions of care among team members. The RN must adhere to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and comply with all regulatory standards, policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure patient safety and quality care. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients within the RN's scope of responsibility.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills while committing to professional accountability and growth.
  • Act as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health.
  • Ensure patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures and utilizing patient safety resources.
  • Implement a plan of care according to identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
