About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients. This position involves delivering direct patient care while collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The RN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. The RN is expected to demonstrate leadership and management skills, showing a commitment to professional accountability and growth. This role is designed for those who aspire to advance from novice to expert, becoming evidence-based scholars to provide optimal patient care and advocate for their patients. The RN is also a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health, ensuring compliance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and all regulatory standards. In this part-time position, the RN will work night shifts at the Shawnee Mission location, where they will be part of a community that values the whole person and aims to uplift others in body, mind, and spirit. The RN will be involved in various activities such as bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding to ensure that all patient needs are anticipated and met effectively. The RN will also be responsible for implementing care plans based on identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, prioritizing nursing interventions according to patient needs and available resources. This role is integral to providing whole-person care and ensuring patient safety through adherence to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients.
  • Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, peers, and physicians.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills in nursing practice.
  • Act as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health.
  • Ensure compliance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, and multidisciplinary patient rounds.
  • Implement care plans based on identified patient needs and prioritize nursing interventions.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
