About the position

The Registered Nurse - Mother/Baby position at St. Joseph Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in the mother/baby unit. This role involves observation, assessment, intervention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of patients, as well as the administration of medications and treatments as ordered by physicians. The nurse will also supervise and teach nursing practices, develop nursing care plans, and ensure the maintenance of health and prevention of illness.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assess patients' health status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Supervise and teach nursing practices and procedures.
• Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Provide health education and rehabilitation support to patients and families.

Requirements

• Valid RN License accepted by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
• Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and Postpartum care.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or progression towards it.
• National Certification recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Bilingual or multilingual capabilities.
