About the position

As a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our most vulnerable patients. This position is PRN (as needed) during night shifts, allowing for flexibility while ensuring that our patients receive the attention and care they require. You will be part of a multidisciplinary care team, coordinating efforts to deliver comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of each infant and their families. Your responsibilities will include direct patient care, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient outcomes. In this role, you will demonstrate leadership and management skills, advocating for your patients and striving for professional growth. You will be expected to maintain a safe environment for patients by adhering to established policies and procedures, and you will actively participate in various team activities such as bedside shift reports and safety huddles. Your commitment to patient education and discharge planning will be essential in promoting optimal outcomes for our patients. This position requires a Kansas Registered Nurse License and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or the completion of the degree within four years of employment. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients in the NICU.
  • Provide direct patient care to infants and collaborate with families, peers, and physicians.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills while committing to professional accountability and growth.
  • Assure patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Implement a plan of care according to identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Prioritize nursing interventions based on patient needs and available resources.
  • Participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding.
  • Provide patient teaching and discharge planning to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
