About the position

As a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will play a critical role in providing specialized care to premature and critically ill newborns. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nurse who can handle the complexities of neonatal care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for our tiniest patients. You will be responsible for assessing the health status of newborns, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and providing education and support to families during a challenging time. The NICU environment is fast-paced and requires quick decision-making skills, as well as the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will also be expected to maintain accurate patient records and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care. Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in the NICU.
  • Monitor vital signs and assess the health status of newborns.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans for each patient.
  • Educate and support families regarding their newborn's condition and care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
  • BLS and NRP certifications required.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced neonatal care techniques.
  • Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC).
  • Previous travel nursing experience.
