Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment.
• Adhere to the SMHCS nursing professional practice model.
• Follow the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice.
• Maintain required certifications and complete necessary training courses within specified timeframes.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) required for new hires after 2012 within specified timeframe.
• Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
• Minimum of one (1) year of emergency RN experience.
• Certifications required upon completion of department orientation: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institute of Health (NIH) Stroke PSA/ACE or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Crisis Intervention.
• Courses/certifications required within one (1) year of completing department orientation: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC).
