The Registered Nurse - Newborn Nursery at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest plays a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to newborns, including those with critical medical and surgical conditions. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, supervise, and be accountable for safe, professional nursing care of patients within the assigned department.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and conduct at all times.
  • Maintain good employee/peer relationships and teamwork.
  • Prioritize work and duties and work well under stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate good communication and customer service skills with patients, families, physicians, peers, and healthcare team.
  • Accountability for direct patient care, applying nursing process, prioritizing care, and evaluating outcomes for premature and term neonates.
  • Participate and facilitate in the discharge planning process and cost containment.
  • Document all aspects of patient care efficiently, accurately, and per policy recommendations.
  • Delegate patient care to licensed/non-licensed nursing staff based on acuity, needs of patient, staff availability, and qualifications.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associate's, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License.
  • 1 year of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) certification.
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Neonate Resuscitate certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
