About The Position
The Registered Nurse in the Observation Unit of the Emergency Department at Bayfront Health is responsible for administering patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting. This role involves providing active treatment for patients experiencing acute injuries, illnesses, or medical conditions, as well as post-intervention care. The nurse will assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized care plans based on those needs and responses. The position requires a strong commitment to patient advocacy, effective communication, and collaboration with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. In this role, the nurse will respect diversity and build respectful relationships with all team members and customers. They will serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician, demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. The nurse will coordinate care and delegate tasks to other team members, ensuring that patient care is prioritized according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards. Documentation of patient care must be thorough and compliant with regulatory standards, covering assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety protocols. The nurse will also participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contribute to the knowledge and skills of others, and engage in professional development activities. This includes attending staff development in-services, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings. The role requires maintaining compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, as well as demonstrating awareness of legal issues and patients' rights. Overall, the Registered Nurse will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and therapeutic care to patients and their families while supporting the goals and strategies of the hospital and nursing department.
