About the position

This position is responsible for providing compassionate and individualized nursing care to patients and their families within the operating room (OR) suite at Vail Health. The role involves collaboration with healthcare providers and team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the daily patient flow within the OR suite to optimize patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
• Delivers patient education to facilitate the plan of care and promote optimal wellness.
• Demonstrates ability to delegate care appropriately according to Colorado Statute.
• Demonstrates competent clinical assessment skills by functioning independently, prioritizing skills, and critical thinking with minimal supervision.
• Administers medications, performs treatments, and assists in procedures as needed, adhering to patient safety guidelines.
• Reviews patient paperwork for accuracy and verifies the procedure to be performed.
• Assists in the positioning and transport of the patient.
• Assumes new assignments as directed with competence and necessary skillset aligned with AORN standards.
• Completes patient charting to include pathology, implant logs, tissue tracking, etc.
• Delivers excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families.
• Role models the principles of a Just Culture.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• One year operating room experience required.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
• Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.
• Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Benefits

• $15,000 Sign On Bonus Available
• Pay based upon relevant education and experience, hourly pay ranging from $35 to $67.98 USD.
