About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at Augusta Health involves delivering patient care in the Outpatient Pavilion, specifically focusing on pre-operative, post-operative, and recovery phases. The role requires coordination of medical plans and adherence to nursing standards while guiding other personnel. The RN must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care in a surgical setting, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care for assigned patients during specific shifts.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the medical plan and nursing standards of care using the nursing process for Pre-op, Post-op, PACU, and OR.
  • Direct and guide the activities of other personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs.
  • Provide care as the OR circulator and post-operative recovery nurse.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and nursing degree; BSN preferred.
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a Compact agreement state.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS & PALS certifications within six months of hire.
  • CPAN, CAPA, CNOR, or Cardiac Monitoring certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of RN experience preferred.
  • Previous PACU or critical care experience preferred.
  • Previous ambulatory surgery or OR experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Clinical competence in all aspects of the OPS/PACU Unit.
  • Completion of annual Augusta Health education requirements and unit competencies.
  • Demonstrates good leadership and communication skills.
  • Job-related computer competence in patient documentation and information retrieval, Meditech applications.
  • Familiarity with current Standards of Peri anesthesia Nursing Practice and AORN guidelines.
  • Familiarity with DNV standards applicable to daily work practices.
