About the position

The Registered Nurse Per Diem (RNPD) is a vital role within the psychiatric department, responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients. This position requires the nurse to effectively utilize their skills in the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The RNPD is expected to maintain quality communication and demonstrate teamwork and professionalism in all interactions. This role also involves directing, coordinating, and implementing patient education, quality and safety initiatives, and overseeing the activities of other health team personnel while adhering to professional nursing standards. In addition to direct patient care, the RNPD is responsible for completing yearly mandatory competencies and any unit-specific competencies as identified by the Director or Designee. This includes fulfilling the requirements of the Professional Practice Ladder, which encompasses responsibilities such as acting as Charge Nurse, participating in Performance Improvement (PI) activities, and engaging in departmental initiatives. The RNPD must also communicate effectively with the Director/Designee and co-workers regarding information from unit or hospital committees.
