About the position

The Registered Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU RN) position involves providing specialized nursing care to critically ill infants and children in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The role requires a commitment to high-quality patient care, adherence to state-mandated nurse-to-patient ratios, and the ability to float to other units as needed. The position is travel-based, requiring a current California RN license and specific certifications, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
• Adhere to state-mandated nurse-to-patient ratios, typically 1:1-2 depending on patient acuity.
• Float to other units as needed, maintaining the same scope of skills.
• Participate in the orientation and training of new staff as required.
• Document patient care accurately using the EPIC EMR system.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Requirements

• Current California RN license at the time of submission.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
• Certifications required: BLS, PALS.
• Experience in pediatric intensive care or similar specialty is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with EPIC EMR is preferred.
• NRP certification is preferred.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
