The center operates eight clinical care sites that offer a range of services including medical oncology, infusion, radiation, and proton therapy, and has network affiliations with hospitals across five states. As a Registered Nurse in this per diem position, you will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary care team, providing patient-centric care. Your primary responsibilities will include nursing assessment and diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. You will assess the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients, develop care plans based on their disease and treatment responses, and educate patients and their families about disease processes and symptom management. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is essential to ensure continuity of care, and you will also refer patients to other clinical resources as needed. This role requires integrating research and evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice, ensuring that care is informed by the latest findings in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and evaluates patients' adaptation to health changes.
  • Develops a plan of care based on patients' disease, symptoms, and response to treatment.
  • Educates patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes, treatment, side effects, and symptom management.
  • Coordinates with inter-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Refers patients, families, and caregivers as appropriate to other clinical resources/professionals such as social work, home health care, clinical nutrition, etc.
  • Implements, evaluates, and modifies plan of care.
  • Integrates research and evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years.
  • Critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze, apply standards, discriminate, seek information, reason logically, predict, and transform knowledge.
  • Ability to develop clinical judgment and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, including effective listening and the ability to provide clear information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Two years of nursing experience preferred.
