About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients. This position involves delivering direct patient care and collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal outcomes for a specific patient population. The RN is expected to utilize the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to maintain and improve patient outcomes. This role also emphasizes the importance of leadership and management skills, as well as a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The RN is encouraged to advance from novice to expert, becoming an evidence-based scholar to advocate for patients effectively. In this role, the RN will be responsible for demonstrating accurate assessment skills tailored to the patient population, ensuring patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures, and implementing care plans based on identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. The RN will actively participate in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding to gather necessary information for patient care and ensure smooth transitions between care team members. The RN is also accountable for working within the parameters of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and all regulatory standards, policies, protocols, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
