Registered Nurse - PRN - Nursery

About the position

The Registered Nurse - PRN - Nursery at Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in the nursery department. This role involves coordinating and supervising patient care, ensuring safety and professionalism, and participating in discharge planning. The position is designed for nurses who are passionate about patient care and want to be part of a supportive healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervise, and be accountable for safe nursing care of patients in the nursery department.
• Demonstrate professional behavior and maintain good relationships with peers and healthcare teams.
• Prioritize work and duties effectively, especially under stressful situations.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
• Accountable for direct patient care, applying nursing processes, and evaluating outcomes for neonates with medical and surgical conditions.
• Participate in the discharge planning process and ensure cost containment.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and per policy recommendations.
• Delegate patient care tasks to licensed and non-licensed staff based on patient needs and staff qualifications.
• Engage in Performance Improvement activities.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree).
• Current Registered Nurse License in Texas or Multi-State Compact License.
• 1 year of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves
