About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at UMass Memorial Health Care involves providing acute care in a detoxification setting. The role requires working evening shifts and entails responsibilities such as developing treatment plans, ensuring client safety, and administering medications. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care to clients suffering from substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the writing of treatment plans, progress notes, evaluations, and discharge paperwork in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develops a strong working rapport with clients, superiors, and peers and participates as an intra- and inter-disciplinary team member.
  • Maintains the highest standards of ethics and demonstrates professional attitude and conduct, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Stays current on, and abide by, all standards of nursing practices as recommended by the American Nurses Association and the policies and procedures of CHL and MYR.
  • Renders and supervises care of clients on the unit assigned to.
  • Ensures safety of clients at all times.
  • Determines and implements specific detoxification protocols as designated by the medical director.
  • Transcribes, administers, and documents all medications ordered by the physician/psychiatrist.
  • Orders all necessary medications for discharge.

Requirements

  • Valid and current RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Satisfactory CORI background check and DCF/CPS background check.
  • Demonstrates a basic, functional knowledge of nursing skills, has a fundamental understanding of addiction and mental health issues in adolescent clients.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with adults and/or adolescents and/or experience in a detox setting.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding care.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) oral and written communication skills.
