About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Adult Behavioral Health ICU at Maine Behavioral Healthcare is designed for both new graduates and experienced nurses. This role focuses on providing individualized care to patients with acute psychiatric illnesses in a newly formed 6-bed intensive care unit. The RN will utilize the nursing process to deliver care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring a low-stimulus environment that prioritizes patient safety and symptom stabilization.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care utilizing the nursing process in inpatient and outpatient facilities.
• Work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver individualized care to patients.
• Monitor and assess patients' physical and psychological conditions.
• Implement treatment plans and interventions as directed by the healthcare team.
• Participate in the development and evaluation of patient care plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Licensed as a registered professional nurse by the Maine State Board of Nursing required.
• 1+ year of psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of counseling theory, physical and psychological effects of mental illness and substance abuse preferred.
• Knowledge of bio-psychosocial assessments required.
