About the position

The Level II Competent Registered Nurse (RN) in Cardiac Progressive Care is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to an assigned group of patients. This role emphasizes collaboration with the healthcare team to enhance care quality through evidence-based practices. The RN will oversee nursing care delivery, coordinate with patients and families, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Coordinate involvement of the patient, family, and health team members in patient care, including teaching and discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care and pertinent information with other healthcare team members.
• Assist Leadership in defining standards of excellence for patient care and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Participate in the orientation of new staff members, both permanent and temporary.
• Act as a point of contact for hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in daily operational activities to ensure a safe patient/staff environment.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in committees for the formulation of nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state required.
• BSN is preferred.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• AHA ACLS Provider required within 6 months.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) required within 90 days.
