About the position
This position is for a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. The role involves working three 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment that emphasizes professional growth and collaboration among healthcare professionals. The Cardiovascular ICU is an 8-bed unit equipped with the latest technology and staffed by a dedicated team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), Intensivists, and Surgeons. The unit prides itself on a collaborative care model, where nurse-physician teamwork is paramount, and interdisciplinary rounds are conducted three times daily to ensure optimal patient outcomes. As a Clinical Nurse in this setting, you will be responsible for delivering proficient nursing care to patients and their families, addressing a range of needs from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will be involved in the care of patients undergoing various cardiovascular procedures, including traditional open-heart surgery, catheter-based valve replacements, high-end vascular surgeries, and thoracic procedures. The role requires strong critical thinking skills and proficiency in rhythm recognition, as you will need to identify current and potential complex problems in specific patient populations and analyze trends and changes in patient status to plan appropriate interventions. Responsibilities
- Deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families in the Cardiovascular ICU.

- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds three times daily.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure.
- Experience in an ICU setting, preferably with cardiovascular patients.
- Strong skills in rhythm recognition and critical thinking.
