Our 20 Bed Surgical Specialty Unit is a dynamic and complex area that caters to a diverse range of patients, including those requiring medical surgical, oncology, GI, and telemetry monitoring. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in this unit, you will have the opportunity to engage in various aspects of patient care, from initial diagnosis to education on follow-up care, allowing you to rediscover your passion for nursing. The unit is equipped with extensive resources, including experienced staff, a dedicated clinical nurse educator, and specialized nurses, ensuring you have the support needed to excel in your role. The HCA Healthcare Nurse Residency Program is a year-long initiative designed to facilitate the transition from student nurse to registered nurse. This program provides hands-on experience and fosters the development of critical clinical skills. As a Resident I Graduate Nurse, you will be part of a nurturing community that includes nurse educators and experienced nurses, all committed to your success. The program includes advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, and opportunities for mentoring and collaboration on evidence-based practice projects. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the specific requirements of the department. You will work closely with medical providers and other members of the care team to provide individualized and compassionate care, advocating for patients and their families throughout their healthcare journey. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient conditions, performing medical procedures, administering medications, and educating patients and their families about their health conditions and treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, documenting care in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses, intervening as necessary in case of unintended responses.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipating needs and resolving them proactively.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures, ensuring understanding of complex medical terminology.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
  • No previous experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
  • Some travel may be needed for training.
